Hello, Mark.

Thank you for contacting us.  The answer is yes, if you are using Firefox Sync.  It is explained in this Help Book article.

Does SynkMark Launch Firefox To Sync?

I've switched from Firefox to Google Chrome as my main browser.
I used to have FF, Chrome and Safari all open.
Now I tend to have only Chrome open, and I add new bookmarks only in Chrome.

From time to time, Firefox unexpectedly launches. Twice today, for example.

There is no obvious trigger -- I have not launched it myself, nor have I clicked on a link, nor has there been a notification message as to the reason for launching FF.

I *think* that Synkmark may be launching FF to cause it to update its bookmarks.

OK, I just tested by adding a bookmark in Chrome, and within 30 seconds, FF launched. After about 30 seconds, FF unloaded itself.

So it appears Synkmark needs to launch FF in order to sync bookmarks. This does not appear to be true for Safari or for other profile windows of Chrome.

Is this accurate, or is there something else going on?

Thanks!
