Hello, DnstrDan.
Thank you for contacting us.
It's possible for the extension(s) to be incorrectly configured if you don't install it immediately after clicking the "Install" button. (Technical explanation below.) Please reinstall the extension:
• Run Firefox.
• Click in the menu: Tools > Add-Ons.
• Find the
BookMacster Sync and
BookMacster Button extensions in the list.
• Click the buttons to Remove them.
• Relaunch Firefox.
• Run BookMacster.
• Click in the menu:
BookMacster >
Manage Browser Extensions.
• If it says that either extension is still installed, click the round "refresh" button at the top.
• Click the button to "Install" the
Sync extension.
• Proceed to Firefox immediately to approve of the installation.
• Relaunch Firefox.
• Click the button in
Manage Browser Extensions to
Test the extension.
If it still fails, please send us some data and I’ll have a look at what's going on. To do that,
• Run BookMacster.
• Click in the menu: Help ▸ Trouble Zipper.
• For Question X (Extra Extension Tests), answer “Yes".
• For Question B (Bookmarks), answer "Don't Include Bookmarks”.
• For Question L (Sync Logs), answer "Don't Include Sync Logs”.
• For Question F (Files), click “Don't Include”.
• In the narrative section, tell me if you are aware of having multiple Firefox profiles.
• Send me the resulting .zip as instructed.
We’ve been working on the last step of Trouble Zipper, wherein my Dropbox is supposed to open in a web page for you to drop that .zip into. If no such web page opens,
click this link.
Technical explanation: When you click
Install, BookMacster or Synkmark leave a
breadcrumb on the disk which our extension picks up the first time it loads, to learn its browser name and profile, which it then stores permanently. I've filed bugs asking for a simple function to just get this from the browser, but apparently the Firefox and Chrome teams apparently don't think there are enough use cases for it. Or maybe their security teams worry there might be a hole in it.
