Regarding the feature request I mentioned up above, to expand and collapse roots…

As I was cleaning out feature requests this evening I discovered that this feature was added a few months ago, but it's in the Bookmarkshelf menu.  The new items are Expand Roots and Collapse Roots.

Thought I must be missing something obvious as when you need to do something 105 times on a computer there is usually a way to do it automatically.
Ah, possibly you are missing something: The option key.  If you hold down the option key while clicking the disclosure triangle to expand or collapse a folder, then all of its "descendant" (child, grandchild, etc.) subfolders get expanded or collapsed as well.  This is not a BookMacster feature; it's default behavior from Mac OS X.

Thanks, that's all I needed. I thought I must be missing something obvious!

If your Bookmarkshelf looks like, for example, Firefox, then this is all you need, since in Firefox all items must descend either Bookmarks Bar, Bookmarks Menu or Unsorted Bookmarks.  Therefore, you need 3 clicks at most to expand or collapse everything.  However, it can be tedious if your Bookmarkshelf has many root folders in it, though, as can be the case if you've imported from Safari, which allows unlimited items at root.  I just entered a feature request to add Expand and Collapse items to the contextual menu (the menu that shows when you right-click).  Invoking such a menu item would affect all the selected (highlighted)items.

Much more Mac-like than the way it was done in Bookdog  Smiley

I guess it probably depends on how many folders you use.

I just find when browsing the Content window I can't see the wood for the trees. Too much scrolling!

I have taken your suggestion and manually closed 105 disclosure triangles, which wasn't too painful for a one time job.

Thought I must be missing something obvious as when you need to do something 105 times on a computer there is usually a way to do it automatically.

Not a big problem, but interesting to see if anyone else chips in.

Bookdog had an option to display the content window in different number of dropdown levels, called "expand to depth"

I can't see this in BookMacster.....is it somewhere else?
Huh  In our view, the global Expand to depth was a bug, not a feature.  Bookdog is deficient in that it can not remember the expanded/collapsed state of individual folders.  As a quick-and-dirty workaround, we added the global Expand to depth.  It's a compromise because it will almost always expand or collapse folders that you don't want expanded or collapsed.

BookMacster is a real Mac app that remembers the expanded/collapsed state of individual folders.  Do you really think the old way was better?  It might ruin my day, but go ahead and tell the truth.  We'll take it as a feature request.  Be interesting to see if anyone else feels the same way.

Apologies if this is a RTFM question, I have looked.

Thanks
