Thought I must be missing something obvious as when you need to do something 105 times on a computer there is usually a way to do it automatically.
Ah, possibly you are missing something: The
option key. If you hold down the
option key while clicking the disclosure triangle to expand or collapse a folder, then all of its "descendant" (child, grandchild, etc.) subfolders get expanded or collapsed as well. This is not a BookMacster feature; it's default behavior from Mac OS X.
If your Bookmarkshelf looks like, for example, Firefox, then this is all you need, since in Firefox all items must descend either
Bookmarks Bar,
Bookmarks Menu or
Unsorted Bookmarks. Therefore, you need 3 clicks at most to expand or collapse everything. However, it can be tedious if your Bookmarkshelf has many root folders in it, though, as can be the case if you've imported from Safari, which allows unlimited items at root. I just entered a feature request to add
Expand and
Collapse items to the contextual menu (the menu that shows when you right-click). Invoking such a menu item would affect all the
selected (highlighted)items.
Much more
Mac-like than the way it was done in Bookdog
