Upon researching this further, I've concluded that the way it works is standard Mac OS X user interface.  When editing data in a field, the updated data is not entered into the data model until you leave the field.  Otherwise, it would confuse the Undo system.  Tags are a token field, like the address field in a Mail.app message.  It works the same way there.

I found this to be true until I tabbed out of the Tags field in the Inspector window.  Then it refreshed in the list.
Thank you.  I'm not sure if that can be "fixed", or if it should be.  But we'll think about it.

I don't think it requires a fix.  It's just what I noticed and it tripped me up for a bit as when I had completed the tag it didn't update, & I had to go to a new part of the inspector window (eg. by tabbing to it) to make the tags in the list refresh.  I could come up with rationale for either approach ... I see what you mean.  After using the Move hyperlink in the Inspector, your focus is clearly on that item, and therefore the selection should change to show it in its new location.  I've entered a to-do to change that.

Regarding the inspector window - I also would like the same prev/next feature as mentioned.
Also, in my workflow, I use the "BookMacsterize" to save a bookmark. I am then taken to BookMacsterApp.  I then move the bookmark using the inspector window to the desired folder.  I then want to SEE the bookmark IN it's new location after the move.  Perhaps I am overlooking something, but I have not found a way to show the bookmark in the folder.  Since I have a complex folder structure this is often problematic / awkward.
After doing a "find" it is easy as I just switch back to Outline mode & it's displayed & highlighted.  Love that.
(hopefully this feature request is enough on the topic not to be hijacking - if I'm hijacking the thread I can post elsewhere)

I'm not aware of any bugs in tagging, but have made a note to retest.

I will play around with tags more and report back.

Wow I see that you're correct.  Although I'm not a heavy iTunes user, I'd never noticed that you get a different Info window depending on whether single or multiple items are selected.  It definitely takes some geeky thinking by the user to understand what it does.  People complained about BookMacster being too complicated (which it definitely was in the early days).  I hope we can keep it simpler than that because I don't want to go down that road again.

BookkMacster 1.11.1 has now been published, so the issue of opening more than 10 websites at once is resolved.

Thank you.  A preference setting, also available from the warning dialog, has been added to resolve this issue in BookMacster 1.11.1.

Note that BookMacster 1.11.1 will be the next version.  This feature is not yet in BookMacster 1.11, which was just published today.

Could it 'learn' after a few times that I really do want to open 31 bookmarks and stop throwing up the yes/no box?
Or a checkbox like 'do not ask me this again'
Or preference (on by default would be fine) to warn when opening x number of bookmarks.

It's not a standard Mac user interface.  Actually, I can't think of any app that does that with their Inspector.  But I like that idea.  Entered as feature request.  Maybe a little up/down stepper with maybe ⌘↑ and ⌘↓ as keyboard shortcuts.

iTunes! Get Info on an individual track, then hit the Info tab at top, edit, use prev/next buttons at the bottom to cycle through tracks. Select multiple items and Get Info to enter the Multiple Item Information editing screen.

Ability to shift(cmd)+click select multiple bookmarks and/or soft folders to set the client (or other attribute.)I want to save time by applying attributes to groups of bookmarks and soft folders and I currently can't do this because there is no group inspector…. like item info vs multiple item info except more functional.
Well, the Client is not settable.  All bookmarks are exported to all Clients, whenever an export is done.  We have a request to stop selected bookmarks from being exported to selected browsers.  But since you're not exporting, Clients shouldn't matter to you.  Set that column heading to something else.

Sorry, my usage of Client was incorrect. I meant Browser... as in I'd like to be able to set the default browser "Visit this bookmark with" for multiple bookmarks at once... this is just an additional Multiple Item Info request / use case.

Other users have requested the ability to manipulate tags on multiple bookmarks.  We need some improvements there, although for now be aware that there are a couple tricks available in the Tag Cloud, like dropping multiple bookmarks onto a tag will tag them all with that tag.

I'll check that out.  Should be an easy fix.

Oh, I think you mean that Verify would fill in funky titles when it visits the site.  OK.  Cool idea.

That would be quite a programming job.  I'm going to wait for some more requests on that.

That has nothing to do with Clients.  (Clients are usually web browsers.)  How about FileDuplicate?  (For those not using Lion, that would be FileSave As.)

OK, that should be do-able.

Hello SURV1V4L1SM,

No, I definitely have not digested all of your post yet.  Just a quick reply to say – thank you – we love detailed feedback like that.  Everything but the kitchen sink.  I'll give it a read, enter issues into our tracker and post a reply tomorrow.

new user/customer feedback

I've evaluated BookMacster on an off for the past week and purchased it today. I'd like to share my frustrations / expectations, as a new user, FWIW

I am use case 3, I use many different browsers, but I am not exporting to browsers… am synching with Dropbox to a 2nd Mac. I don't use any hard folders.

I would like the inspector to act like metadata tagger… previous / next to cycle through bookmarks and soft folders. I know I can cmd+~ and use arrows up and down the list, but I still have to go back to the inspector, having prev/next right there would be more convenient to me.

Ability to shift(cmd)+click select multiple bookmarks and/or soft folders to set the client (or other attribute.) I want to save time by applying attributes to groups of bookmarks and soft folders and I currently can't do this because there is no group inspector…. like item info vs multiple item info except more functional.

Firefox - drag a favicon in to create a bookmark and it is listed as 'untitled' works properly from Safari - only weird until I figured out the keyboard shortcuts for QuickMarks.

I now have 'untitled' bookmarks I dragged in from Forefox…I'd like 'verify' (or something else) to fix that unless I have specifically changed the name myself (or said to not change it.)

Select soft folder, should be able to cmd+k to open up all bookmarks in a browser, instead I have to select all bookmarks in that soft folder and then hit cmd+k… I found that I can double click soft folder but I'd like a keyboard shortcut as there is one for an individual 'mark.

I'd like to be able to verify a single bookmark (or a group of bookmarks or soft folders or a group of soft folders) either by inspector or secondary click.

Encrypted bkmslf file, passwd protect. Unlocking BookMacster ala 1Password would be great too.

Tags didn't work smoothly for me at all… UI did not refresh to reflect changes (addition or deletion of tag_ had to quit and restart… not a dealbreaker, I just won't use the feature.

What if I want a client to be a 2nd, completely different, bkmslf file as backup? How do I do that in Settings / Clients ? I figured out how to export to an xbel file, but that's not exactly what I wanted.

HELP Document:

5.2.5
Fabricate Folders… where do I find this? Frustrated reading Advanced because I search for things in the 'Help' menu of the app and don't find them.

Spelling mistake:
4.2 Commands
Some commands have a detail associated with them.  For example, the Export commands have a detal setting which
(second 'detail' spelled wrong)

Glossary
Tag Delimiter Replacement
By default, it is the underscore character.  For example, when you support the tag computer software to Delicious, it will be exported as computer-software.
(you used a dash, not an underscore!)

This is the first browser independent bookmark manager I've committed to using... because you got so much right... keep up the good work.
