Hello, Ward.

Thank you for the report.  The misbehavior you're seeing we call churn, and peeling the skin off of that onion has always been one of the missions of BookMacster development.  Some of us start salivating whenever we see a case of churn.

The design of OmniWeb bookmarks makes eliminating churn not possible in all cases.  These cases are explained in chapter 5.6.6 of BookMacster's Help Book.  (Use that link because we just reorganized the Help Book.)  You might be able to figure out the problem and figure out a workaround from there, but if you don't mind, I'd prefer that you send your data to us, using our Trouble Zipper so we can verify that the onion does not have another skin that we missed.  Anyhow, we should be able to figure out a workaround for you.

Repeated Exports reports lots of bogus changes ...

I've been an OmniWeb user since the beginning of time. For the first time, I'm seriously considering moving to another browser because OmniWeb has not kept up with the pack.

I've just started using BookMacster with the intention of (1) exporting my 3000+ OmniWeb bookmarks to Chrome, Firefox and Safari, and (2) keeping these bookmarks in sync across all browsers as I explore the alternatives.

The import from OmniWeb and the initial export to Chrome, Firefox and Safari went smoothly.

I followed this with a small syncing test: in OmniWeb, I deleted 1 bookmark and added two new bookmarks.  Rather than wait for automatic syncing, I imported the changes from OmniWeb and then exported to all four browsers. Red flags appeared!

BookMacster made the expected changes to Firefox and Safari, but it reported hundreds of changes to OmniWeb and Chrome.  I allowed the exports to proceed.  Spot checking the OmniWeb and Chrome bookmarks revealed no obvious problems.

Without making any changes to BookMacster, I repeated the export.  Again, lots of changes were reported for OmniWeb and Chrome.  Repeating the export several more times got similar results, with different numbers each time for OmniWeb and for Chrome.  Then BookMacster stopped reporting OmniWeb changes, but Chrome keeps changing (e.g., 61 items added, 31 updated, and 58 deleted).

Help!
