Well, I thought the idea of these apps like Leap, DevonThink and Together is to kind of suck all of your digital life into one place.  So I think that using more than one of these apps would be defeating that purpose?  But even if someone did use more than one, this proposed BookMacster feature could sync to more than one folder.  You'd just add one client for each app/folder.  I just wonder if these have "folder-watching" capability.

When you say tag a bookmark in BM, I think what you mean is to create and tag a new bookmark.  Is that correct?  I mean, if you wanted to tag an existing item/bookmark in, say, Leap, you would just do it in Leap.

I've considered adding a feature wherein BookMacster would synchronize its Bookmarkshelf with a folder of .webloc files.  For those familiar with BookMacster, this folder of .webloc files would be another client.  When a bookmark was added to BookMacster (or the internal bookmarks of a browser such as Safari, which BookMacster was also syncing to), then BookMacster would create a corresponding .webloc file in this folder.  And vice versa.  I'm not sure if this would be useful.  First of all, these other apps would need to do the same thing - synchronize to a folder of .webloc files.  Do you know can they do that?  If so, even though the .webloc format itself does not support tags, because they are files, as you suggested, tags could be passed as Mavericks-Finder tags or OpenMeta tags as you originally suggested.

Thank you for the question.  The tags you see within BookMacster are applied to the bookmarks within its own document database, and also are imported from and exported to web browser apps such as Firefox and iCab which support tags on their internal bookmarks.  By internal bookmarks, I mean, for example, the bookmarks in Safari's and Firefox' window toolbars, and the bookmarks that you see in Safari when you click in its menu Bookmarks > Show Bookmarks or Edit Bookmarks.

I just spent about a half hour playing with DEVONthink demo, and don't see any integration with the internal bookmarks in Safari or Firefox.

Maybe you could write a couple sentences explaining how such compatibility would work.  Describe what you would like to do and what you would like to see happen when you do it.
