BookMacster for Mac OS X 10.5

BookMacster updates have been split into two paths:

• New features will be added to BookMacster 1.7 and later, which require Mac OS X 10.6 or later.

• Bug fix and maintenance updates will continue for BookMacster 1.6 (i.e., 1.6.8, 1.6.9, 1.6.10, etc.).  New BookMacster users who are still using Mac OS X 10.5 can download the latest version in that track here, as a zip archive or internet-enabled disk image.  They're both about 11 MB and both the same inside; choose whichever you prefer.  (We like the zip.)

BookMacster's built in Check for Update feature is smart enough to recognize your Mac OS X version, and keep you updated to the latest applicable version for your Mac.

A tip: If you're buying a used Intel-based Mac so that you can upgrade to Mac OS X 10.6, prefer a 64-bit model.  This means one with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor or better (i3, i5, i7, etc.).  Some Macs made during 2006, and a few made in 2007 have the Intel Core Duo processor which is 32 bit.  The 2 in Core 2 Duo makes it 64-bit.  The 32-bit Macs, even though they have Intel processors, cannot officially run OS X Lion (10.7) and also there are some apps which no longer work on 32-bit Macs.  More apps will be adopting this policy in the future.
