Nope they were Safari bookmarks. The names were such that googling is quite efficient so it is all fixable.

The addition to the log file would be a good form of cross browser/platform idiot proofing though.

What might be a good thing to add would be a tweek to the export log. If you were to add the address of just the deleted bookmarks to the export log it wouldn't greatly increase the size of the log file and it would allow users to recover from mistakes discovered a week or two after they were made.

[quote author=283D2220273A2627490 link=1276712824/0#0 date=1276712824]Unless there is already a way to do that that I don't know about...
If this bookmark was in Firefox, there is a little secret; BookMacster keeps the last 10 Firefox bookmarks files in here:

     ~/Library/Application Support/BookMacster/Firefox 3 Backups

However if you're running a daily Agent, that may only be good for 10 days, should be more if you don't modify bookmarks every day.

They're actually copies of the raw places.sqlite files from your Firefox Profiles directory.  Let me know if you need more info.  Make sure Firefox is not running if you muck with places.sqlite.

And then there's always Time Machine if you're using it.

Something to help recover from user errors

So I screwed up and managed to delete some bookmarks that I didn't want deleted. Pure user error/lack of coffee/what the hell was I thinking type of scenario. Now I need to fix the problem. I take a look at the export log and there is the offending export and there are my missing bookmarks except it is only the names of the bookmarks in the log not the addresses. Arrgh. Well at least I know what to look for but still...
