It seems to be working OK for me now too.
(fingers crossed)
I was having repeated strange things happening like Safari would crash when ever I saved after importing.
Well, it has happened in the past that, on occasion, Safari would crash it you were editing its bookmarks at the same time as you did an
Export, but recent versions of BookMacster have included measures to prevent that, and I've not seen it happen since. Common sense says that if two actors try are trying to change the same thing (Safari bookmarks) at the same time, trouble is possible. But I've never seen it happen with an
Import, and indeed that may be some other problem.

And it would not remember my changes.
Sometimes you have to close windows in Safari to startle it into reading the changes exported from BookMacster.

I repaired permissions and so far it seems to work OK.
I don't think that would have had any effect.

I switched off Import from Clients Whenever feasible. Dunno if that helped.
That switches off your Agent, so that automatic operations such as syncing and sorting will not occur. With no Agents checked, BookMacster only operates manually. It should be OK to leave an Agent on, however, because before an Agent does anything, it checks to see if BookMacster is running to avoid conflicts. If BookMacster is inactive, it commands BookMacster to do the work. If you are actively editing that Bookmarkshelf, it aborts the work.
You might want to launch BookMacster and click in the menu File ▸ Active Agents. Make sure that you don't have any other Bookmarkshelf documents with Active Agents.
Let us know if you have any more trouble.
