Hello, sonarthug.

Smarky would be satisfactory for your purposes, but the same Safe Limit feature is also in Smarky.  Here is how to work with it…

• Increase the Safe Limit settings.  In BookMacster, there are separate settings for Import and Export.  To access the Import Safe Limit control, click in the menu: Bookmarkshelf > Safe Sync Limit > Import and follow the blue arrows.  The default setting is 25.  You could set it up to ∞, which is no limit.  Then repeat for Export with Bookmarkshelf > Safe Sync Limit > Export.  In Smarky, there is only one Safe Limit control for both Import and Export, in Preferences > Syncing.

• If you have Time Machine running on your Home's Library folder (which it does by default), completely removing the Safe Limits is probably fairly safe given the current maturity of Safari, iCloud and BookMacster.  However, if you'd rather not set the limits too high, you could also consider making it a practice to do major bookmarks housekeeping, which could trip the limit, in Smarky or BookMacster.

• If you ever do get a Safe Limit warning as you have reported here, remember that you must manually import from Safari before you export from BookMacster or Smarky.  Indeed, exporting from BookMacster or Smarky will cause your moves and other changes in Safari to be undone.

Regarding switching to Smarky, the only real advantage is that it is easier for new users with limited purposes such as yourself to set up.  That's why we made Smarky.  But since you've already got BookMacster set up, there may be no benefit for you.  If you do want to switch to Smarky, though, when you "purchase" a license, the built-in store will recognize your BookMacster license and offer a Smarky license at no cost.

I am using BookMacster to keep my bookmarks in sorted order. That is all I really do. But often I am adding, deleting or moving many bookmarks at a time and I get the error that I have exceeded the limit. And that screws me up. I don't know what to do because the next sync undoes all the moves I just made. I have four macs (two mac pro's and two iMacs) and an iPhone and and iPad. I just want the bookmarks to show on all and in order. And if I add a bookmark with one mac to show on the others. I don't use dropbox and just let iCloud sync the devices. Should I be using Smarky?
