Hello, Ellen.

Sorry for the long wait.  A combination of spam filters, or possibly misbehavior by Mail.app caused notification of your post to be hidden from me until today.

Indeed, these issues are pretty messy.  But we've been down this road before, and so BookMacster has a lot of troubleshooting tools and logs built in.  The easiest way to get this resolved is to send us a full Trouble Zipper report.  To do that, when you have a few minutes:

• Activate BookMacster
• Click in the menu: Help ▸ Trouble Zipper
• For Question B (Bookmarks), answer "Include Bookmarks"
• In the list which appears, choose "Google Chrome", then, holding down the ⌘ key,  "Firefox" and "Safari"
• For Question L (Sync Logs), answer "Include Sync Logs"
• For Question F (Files), answer "Search"
• Send us the resulting .zip as instructed.

Sync problems with two Macs and three browsers

I am using BookMacster on a desktop Mac and a MacBook Air. For a long time, I had no problems at all, but for some reason I can't figure out, recently, every time I start using either machine, BookMacster sync is having problems. It tells me that if it syncs a large number of bookmarks will be changed, usually between 30 and 50. Sometimes the number to be added and the number to be deleted is almost the same and when I say OK, it does its thing and nothing really changes, except the one or two things added or deleted voluntarily. Other times, it empties almost all the folders and tells me to hit "undo" if I don't like it. Which I do.

This may have started when I got a new MacBook Air and reinstalled everything. But the setup is mostly identical to my previous one. The only change is the addition of Chrome to the MacBook Air.

This affects all three browsers I use, but Safari most often. I use Firefox, Chrome and Safari on both machines. Safari sync is always on (I have iPads and an iPhone I need to keep in sync). Firefox sync is off (I don't think I even have an account), and Chrome sync is sometimes on, sometimes off, as I'm not permanently logged into my account.

I understand this is quite complicated and I have no idea how to try and fix things. I would appreciate any help.

Ellen
