Jerry,

Sorry to hear your response. Although I can use the menu items (assuming you mean "Add Quickly" and "Add & Inspect" under the Bookmarks menu), I then have to bring BookMacster forward and manually file the new bookmarks in the correct place. Certainly doable but not nearly as convenient  Embarrassed

While Firefox 38.5.2 is the latest ESR version, I can not upgrade BookMacster at this time because work has not deployed 10.10 yet. There is talk that they will the first quarter of this year though. So, maybe then, I can upgrade to the newer BookMacster (assuming it works with Firefox ESR 38.5.2).  Huh

Regards,

John

Assuming what you say is true, this is apparently due to a bug in either BookMacster 1.x, Firefox 38.x, or OS X 10.9.x.  I don't have any record of any such bug being fixed in BookMacster, but sometimes bugs get fixed by accident.  But in fact it doesn't matter which one has the bug, because we're not going to touch BookMacster 1.x, Mozilla never looks back, and Apple only looks back if there is a major security issue.

Since you have our Menu Items installed in Firefox, you could see how you like using those.  You click one of them when you want to add a bookmark directly from Firefox to BookMacster.  I know it's not quite like the BookMacster menu item.

It is also possible that switching to some other application first, instead of directly switching from Safari to Firefox, might cause it to behave properly.

Sorry, I wish I had better news.

Jerry,

OK, verified that the only Sheep Systems extension shown in the Firefox Extensions is the "Sheep Systems Firefox Extension 324". No warnings about being unsigned.

With regards to testing the extension, my version of BookMacster does not have a "Tools" menu. However, I was able to find "Manage Browser Add-ons" under the "BookMacster" menu.

After running the test, its says "324 (OK) (Loaded)" and there is a green checkmark.

I will say that the next line down says "Menu Items" and "Installed". Not sure if this is related to your mention of "Sheep Systems Menu Extension" or not but thought I would mention it.

What next?

Hello, John.

In Firefox, click in the menu: Tools > Add-Ons, then choose Extenions and see what you’ve got from us.  For BookMacster 1.22.41, you should have installed in Firefox the old Sheep Systems Firefox Extension version 323 or 324.  Firefox 38 may display a warning that the extension is not signed or something like that, but I think it should still be enabled.  Make sure that you do *not* have installed our Sheep Systems Menu Extension or Sheep Systems Sync Extension.  These only work with version 2.0.7 or later of our apps.

If it looks OK in Firefox, test the extension.  To do that, run BookMacster and click in the menu: Tools > Manage Browser Add-Ons and click the Test button in the row for Firefox.

I just tested this with the latest BookMacster, latest Firefox and El Capitan, and it works fine.  I get the page from Firefox.  But I understand you're in a different situation there.

Trys to save bookmark from wrong browser

First, running Mac OS 10.9.5 and BookMacster 1.22.41

Although I much prefer Safari, due to some work sites, I must also use Firefox.

If I am in Safari and want to add a bookmark using the BookMacster menu item, it seems to work fine.

However, when In Firefox (Firefox ESR 38.5.2) when I click on the BookMacster menu to try and save a bookmark, it shows the site last visited by Safari and not the site I am currently on in Firefox. I can even quit Safari first.

Example: In Safari I visited Apple.com. In Firefox, I visit Microsoft.com. While in Firefox, I decide I want to save a bookmark to the current site, Microsoft.com, in BookMacster. I click on the menu item and choose the appropriate folder but instead of seeing "Add Here: Microsoft.com", I see "Add Here: Apple.com".

So, for some reason, BookMacster is not seeing the sites I visit with Firefox.

Any ideas on what is wrong?

Regards,

John
