Maybe I left out one step, which is to relaunch BookMacster.  What I said has to work, because the only knowledge BookMacster has of the page-ripping sound is that file.  If you replace it with a bark, it will bark instead.

Anyhow, following what you said about having fun, replacing files is probably not that much fun after you've done it once or twice.  I've upped the ante on adding some more optional sound effects to the Preferences, which is what you really want.

FWIW, I think software should be fun, too.

Having the bark (I'm a dog person) is what made me ditch Xmarks and keep you guys.

Howdy Jerry,

I followed your instructions, checked in Preferences that I have sounds on.

Still no bark.

Well, we have an open feature request to add more sounds, and if we ever do, the old Bookdog Bark will be one of the options.

Let me clarify a little, though.  Bookdog can bark (if preference is set) when it automatically sorts your bookmarks.  BookMacster does not make any sound when it sorts, but it can make the page-rip sound when you add a bookmark to BookMacster directly, while in a web browser, as described here:
http://sheepsystems.com/bookmacster/HelpBook/directAddVisit

To directly answer your question, you can replace this page-rip sound with the bark sound by doing this:
  • Download: http://sheepsystems.com/files/BookdogBark.zip.
  • It should unzip automatically to BookdogBark.aiff
  • Rename it to LandBookmark.aiff.
  • Open the BookMacster package (Show Package Contents)
  • Open folder Contents.
  • Open folder Resources.
  • Find the file named LandBookmark.aiff and replace it with the renamed LandBookmark.aiff which is actually BookdogBark.aiff.

Now, the next time you update BookMacster, it will go back to the page-rip though, and you'll have to replace it again.

Howdy,

I upgraded from Bookdog.

I really miss the bark, when I add a new bookmark. Can I get it back somehow?

Thanks,
